Metronome
Chordly's built-in metronome helps you keep time while practicing or performing. Set BPM from 40 to 200, with an accent on beat 1.
Use the metronome in Play Mode when you want a click track without leaving the chart.
What the metronome does
Chordly's metronome runs directly from the Play Mode toolbar, so you can keep time while the song stays in front of you.
The metronome uses a 4/4 pulse with an accent on beat 1.
It also pulses visually while it runs, so you can follow it even with the sound off.
Start and stop the metronome
Use the metronome button in the Play Mode toolbar.
- on desktop, click the metronome button to start or stop it
- on smaller screens, tap once to expand the BPM controls, then tap again to start
- if the metronome is already running, tapping the button stops it
Change the BPM
The metronome runs from 40 BPM to 200 BPM.
Use the up and down controls to adjust the tempo in 5 BPM steps. The current BPM stays visible in the middle of the control.
Mute or unmute the click
Next to the BPM display, Chordly shows a speaker icon.
Use that icon if you want to mute or unmute the metronome sound without changing the BPM itself.
What Chordly remembers
Chordly remembers the metronome BPM for each song in Play Mode, so when you come back to that song later, the tempo opens where you left it.
When to use it
The metronome is useful when:
- you are practicing to a fixed tempo
- you want a steady count while rehearsing from the chart
- you need the song and the click on screen at the same time
