Folders
Organize your Chordly library with folders. Create folders, open them from the dashboard, and group songs without duplicating them.
Folders are the main way to organize a larger library in Chordly.
Use folders when you want stable groups, such as:
- one band's repertoire
- a worship set
- rehearsal material for a season
- songs for one event or service
Create a folder
Open Song Library or Favorites in the dashboard.
Click New Folder in the folder grid.
In Create New Folder, enter a name in Folder Name and click Create Folder.
If you do not have any folders yet, the button reads Create a new folder.
If you create a folder while you are already in the Favorites view, the new folder is also added to favorites automatically.
Open and browse a folder
Click any folder card to open it.
Inside a folder, Chordly gives you:
- a search bar for that folder
- the same filter row used elsewhere in the library
- the songs currently in that folder
Folder pages show only the songs in that folder.
Add songs to a folder
Folders do not create copies of songs. They are an organization layer on top of the same library.
To add a song to a folder:
Hover over a song in the library.
Click the folder button on that song row.
In Update Folders, choose the folders you want and click Update.
A song can belong to more than one folder, so it can appear in different sets without being duplicated.
Favorite a folder
Each folder card has a star button. Use it to add the folder to Favorites for quicker access.
Star a folder when you want quicker access to it without changing the rest of your library.
Delete a folder
Open the folder menu on a folder card and choose Delete folder.
Chordly asks for confirmation before it removes the folder. Deleting the folder does not delete the songs inside it. It only removes the container.
Folders vs favorites
Folders and favorites work best together when they each do one job.
- Use folders for structure.
- Use favorites for speed.
If you are organizing your whole library, start with folders. If you only need a quick way back to a few songs or sets, use favorites instead.
