Spacing

Adjust line spacing, paragraph spacing, letter spacing, and word spacing in your song.

The spacing menu lets you change how open or tight the document feels without changing the actual words.

Open the spacing controls

Place the caret in the line you want to adjust, or select the lines you want to change.

Open the spacing menu in the toolbar.

Choose the spacing control you want to change.

The four spacing controls

Chordly gives you four separate spacing controls:

  • Line Spacing changes the space between lines
  • Paragraph Spacing changes the space after a paragraph or block
  • Letter Spacing changes the spacing between characters
  • Word Spacing changes the spacing between words

Presets and custom values

Each spacing section includes preset values, and the menu also supports entering a custom number directly.

By default, line spacing starts at 1.15, which gives the document a little more room than a strict single-spaced layout.

When to use each one

  • Use Line Spacing when the lyrics feel cramped vertically
  • Use Paragraph Spacing to create more separation between sections
  • Use Letter Spacing for subtle readability changes
  • Use Word Spacing when you want words to breathe more on the line

If you want to change where text sits horizontally on the line, use Text Alignment instead.
