AI Songwriting Assistant
Chordly's AI assistant can see your song and answer questions about it. Ask about your chords, lyrics, structure, or music theory directly from the editor.
The AI Songwriting Assistant is built directly into the Chordly editor. It can see the lyrics, chords, and structure of your song, so when you ask a question, you don't have to explain what you're working on. Just ask.
Where to find it
The assistant appears as a small widget at the bottom left of every editor screen. When collapsed, you'll see the AI Assistant label with a sparkle icon. Click anywhere on it to open the full chat panel.
How to use it
Type your question or message into the text area at the bottom of the panel and press Enter to send. The response appears in the chat directly above.
Because the assistant has full context of your current song, you can reference it directly and it knows what you mean: "what key is this in?", "does the bridge feel resolved?", "how could I change the second verse?"
You can keep the conversation going. It remembers the context of your current session.
To start fresh, click the Reset icon in the top right corner of the panel. This clears the conversation. Your song is not affected.
What to ask
Your song specifically
- "What key is this song in?"
- "Does the progression in the chorus feel resolved?"
- "How could I rewrite the second verse to feel less repetitive?"
- "What chords are already in this song?"
Chord and arrangement ideas
- "Can you suggest a chord for the bridge?"
- "What would make this progression feel more resolved?"
- "What chords would work well coming out of that G?"
Lyric help
- "How could I reword this line to fit the meter better?"
- "Does this verse set up the chorus well?"
- "Can you suggest a different way to phrase this?"
Song structure
- "What's a typical structure for a worship song?"
- "How do I build tension before the chorus?"
- "What usually goes in a bridge?"
Music theory
- "What is the relative major of A minor?"
- "What notes are in a Dsus4 chord?"
- "What's the difference between a major 7 and a dominant 7?"
You don't need to simplify your questions. The assistant understands music terminology.
