Formatting Tabs

Adjust tab size, row spacing, and overall visual readability for your tab staff in Chordly.

Tab formatting in Chordly is mostly about readability: how large the tab appears and how much space sits between wrapped rows.

Open the tab controls

Click the tab block to put it in edit mode. From there, you can change:

  • Increase Size
  • Decrease Size
  • Increase Spacing
  • Decrease Spacing

Change the size

Use the size controls when the tab needs to be easier to read or more compact on the page.

Click the tab to put it in edit mode.

Click Increase Size or Decrease Size until the tab looks right.

When the tab is not being edited, you can also drag the resize handle at the lower-right corner of the block.

Change the row spacing

If the tab wraps into multiple rows, row spacing controls how much vertical space appears between those rows.

Put the tab in edit mode.

Click Increase Spacing or Decrease Spacing.

This is useful when a dense section feels cramped or when you need the tab to take up less vertical space.

How wrapping works

Tabs automatically wrap into additional rows based on the width available in the document. You do not need to manually create a new row.

That means formatting a tab is often a balance between:

  • the size of the tab
  • the amount of spacing between rows
  • how much horizontal space the page gives the tab

If a tab suddenly feels too tall, check whether it has wrapped into more rows. Sometimes reducing the size slightly is enough to make it fit better.
