In General Privacy, choose Private, Friends, or Public.
What each privacy level means
Private
Private means only you and people you directly share with can access the song.
Use Private for personal work, unfinished charts, or anything meant for a specific small group.
Friends
Friends means all your friends can view the song in Play Mode.
Public
Public means anyone can discover and view the song.
Public songs can appear in Chordly's discovery flow, so this is the right choice when you want the chart open to everyone.
Making a song public
When you choose Public, Chordly asks for a few details before saving the change:
- song title
- content type
- difficulty
Artist is optional.
That extra information helps public songs show up properly when people browse and open them.
Changing a public song back
If a song is already public and you switch it back to Private or Friends, Chordly shows a confirmation first.
That warning exists because changing a public song back will:
- remove it from public discovery
- limit who can open it
- hide it from people who no longer have access
Privacy and direct sharing

FAQ
- Can people with view access edit my song?
- No. View access allows reading the song in Play Mode only. To edit, a person needs editor access through direct sharing or a collaborator invitation.
- If I set a song to Private, can people I previously shared it with still see it?
- Yes. People with direct sharing access can still open the song. Setting a song to Private changes the general visibility but does not remove access for people you have already shared it with directly.
- What does the Public setting do?
- Public makes the song discoverable by anyone. It can appear in Chordly's discovery flow and can be opened by any Chordly user through its link.
- Do Friends-only songs show up in Play Mode for friends?
- Yes. Friends can view a Friends-only song in Play Mode. They cannot edit it unless they are also invited as a collaborator.
- Can I share a Private song with a specific person?
- Yes. You can share a Private song directly with specific people. They will have access even though the song is set to Private overall.
