Deleting Tabs

How to remove a tab staff or individual notes from your tablature.

You can remove content from a tab at three levels: a single cell, a column, or the whole tab block.

Clear a tab cell

While editing a tab, click the cell you want to clear.

  • Delete clears the current cell
  • Backspace clears the current cell if it is empty, then moves you backward

If you type nothing into a cell, it displays as an empty tab space again.

Remove a column

Use Remove Column in Tab Editor when you want to shorten the tab structurally.

Click the tab to put it in edit mode.

Select a cell if you want to remove a specific column.

Click Remove Column.

If a cell is selected, Chordly removes that column. If nothing is selected, it removes the last column in the tab.

Remove the whole tab block

Tabs live directly in the song document. If you want to remove the entire tab block, delete it the same way you would remove other content in the page.

If you only want to leave tab editing, press Escape or click outside the tab. That closes Tab Editor, but it does not remove the tab itself.
